Leaking Roof? Alpine Construction Can Help
Advice from Spokane’s Leading Roofing Contractor.
Per the advice of Spokane roofing installation and repair contractor Alpine Construction, upon visual discovery of a leaking roof or the initial sound of water dripping into your house, there are three important steps to be completed without delay. The first step is obvious and should be taken care of immediately, while the other two steps need be accomplished upon a halt to the precipitation or downpour. By accomplishing these three steps you can take care of your roofing leak and help make sure your home remains in good condition.
Step 1: Water Clean Up & Collection
The first step is vitally important, as the incessant drip, drip of rain making its way through your roof is never good. Start collecting the accumulated water by wiping down the affected area before you place an older towel or two on the ground and under a large bucket or bowl directly below the drip. The towels are key, as they will soak up any water that might spill from the large container. If it continues to rain, it is not safe to get onto your roof, so remain focused upon collecting and removing any water that may be there.
Step 2: Assessing the Problem
It will be much safer when the roof roof is dry. If your tempted to go out onto your roof yourself, many times a leak comes from the flashing or seams, then it’s just a matter of re-sealing or re-caulking with special roofing caulk or sealant sold in most home improvement stores. Serious safety considerations apply to being on any roof, so we recommend letting a professional roofing contractor like Alpine Construction determine the source of the roof leak (ask for a free estimate). Be prepared for your roofing contractor to be particularly busy after heavy rains or storms, when most people notice problems in their roof.
Step 3: Repairing the Problem
Repairing the roofing leak on your own will surely save you time and money. However, do not let the lure of a cheap fix give you a false sense of security, especially if your not comfortable repairing the roof yourself. Call a reputable roofing contractor like Alpine Construction, and have them repair the problem for you. Asking for referrals from family or friends is much easier than randomly calling roofing contractors from listings in the phone book.
Please don’t be tempted to let the problem go until your roof leaks again. Take care of the problem right away, as it’s better to spend the money re-caulking flashing or repairing a seam, than it is to re-surface the roof and repair potential truss & beam damage because you waited too long.
